Complete Guide
Beppu × coffee,
the whole trip.
Hot springs, sights, and a short trip to Yufuin. And a cup of specialty coffee. Living and roasting in Beppu, we've gathered how to enjoy the town on one page.
Coffee in hand, in a town of hot springs
Beppu is a town of hot springs with one of Japan's greatest volumes of thermal water — steam drifting over the streets, eight distinct spring districts, and, just a little further, the nature of Yufuin and Oita.
Right by Beppu Station, we at TUMUGU COFFEE roast our beans and brew coffee one cup at a time. This page brings together, by area, how to enjoy your trip — from coffee to hot springs, sights and short trips. Use it to plan your days in Beppu.
A day in Beppu
For a first visit — a model course from morning to night, using TUMUGU COFFEE as your base.
Walking Beppu's hot springs
The eight spring districts known as Beppu Hatto — each with its own water and mood. From the steamy Kannawa to the milky waters of Myoban, choose the bath that fits you. The Hells (jigoku) tour of vivid, colourful springs is a Beppu classic.
Beppu's sights
Beppu is more than hot springs. Town walks, the seaside, retro spots and local food — places that colour a trip. Pair a sight with a coffee and the day flows nicely.
A little further — Yufuin & Oita
A short hop by train or car from Beppu. To the scenery of Yufuin — Lake Kinrin and the Yunotsubo shopping street — and the nature and experiences of the wider Oita area. Worth an overnight if you can.
